A dedicated Eurovision night
For the first time, one evening of Sanremo will focus exclusively on choosing Italy's Eurovision entry. On that night, the competing artists can use additional staging intended to give viewers a better sense of how their song could work on the Eurovision stage.
Two different prizes, two different votes
The Eurovision vote will be separate from the vote held on the festival's final night. That means the song selected for Eurovision 2027 does not have to be the same song that wins Sanremo 2027. It is the first time the Sanremo champion and Italy's Eurovision entry are being decided through separate votes.
Why the format is changing
New Artistic Director Stefano De Martino has described the Eurovision-focused evening as a way to strengthen Sanremo's international dimension and make the Eurovision selection a more deliberate part of the festival rather than an option offered only after the Sanremo result.
What is still pending?
The official Eurovision announcement does not yet identify which of the five evenings will be the Eurovision night. The full artist lineup, detailed voting mechanism, running order and production rules for that evening will be added when Rai or Eurovision publishes them.
