Editorial Policy
Accuracy, clear sourcing and meaningful updates come before publishing volume.
Source hierarchy
We prioritize official Eurovision channels, participating broadcasters, artists, venues, organizers and other first-party sources. Secondary reporting is used when useful and cross-checked where practical.
Verification and fact-checking
Before a factual news item is published, the underlying claim is checked against the strongest available source. Dates, participant status, selection rules, ticket information, venues and other time-sensitive details are verified against first-party material whenever possible.
When only secondary reporting is available, we identify the information as reported rather than confirmed and avoid upgrading a claim simply because it has been repeated by multiple outlets. Where sources conflict, the uncertainty is stated until an authoritative source resolves it.
Evergreen trackers and data pages are updated from the same source-led workflow. A source-rechecked date may be shown when information has been reviewed again without implying that the underlying article was newly published.
Confirmed information vs speculation
Trackers and factual pages distinguish confirmed announcements from pending information. We do not present fan speculation, rumored artists, ticket claims or unverified dates as confirmed facts.
Bylines, publication dates and updates
News stories identify Song Contest Radar as the publisher and show the original publication date. A modified date is used when the published story itself materially changes. A separate source-rechecked date may be displayed when the primary source has been reviewed again without pretending that the article was newly published or substantially rewritten.
Images and visual assets
News stories use large story-specific visuals. Where an original or appropriately usable editorial photo is available, it should be credited. Otherwise Song Contest Radar may publish a clearly credited editorial illustration created for the story. Illustrations are not presented as documentary photographs of an event, artist or venue, and image captions or credits identify them as illustrations.
Historical data
Results are preserved in the scoring format used in their original year. Where complete official data was never published, such as the full 1956 jury scores, we state that limitation instead of inventing values.
Corrections and updates
Material factual errors are corrected promptly. Developing stories, calendars and participant trackers are updated when authoritative information changes. Important corrections should improve the underlying data as well as the article that surfaced the error.
Readers can send a correction or editorial tip. A useful correction request should identify the page, the disputed detail and, where available, a source supporting the change. We review the underlying evidence rather than changing a factual claim solely because a correction was requested.
AI-assisted workflows
Automation and AI may support monitoring, drafting, translation preparation, data normalization, visual production and internal linking. Publication standards still require factual verification, source review, accurate labeling and useful original context.
Commercial independence
Advertising and partnerships do not determine editorial conclusions, rankings or factual coverage. Sponsored material, if introduced, will be identified separately from editorial content.
