EUROVISION EXPLAINED

How Eurovision voting works

The famous “12 points” are only one layer of the scoreboard. The public rules for Eurovision 2027 confirm National Juries, Audience Voting and the Rest of the World vote across the Contest.

The classic Eurovision points

Each voting set ranks a top ten. The favourite receives 12 points, second place gets 10, and the remaining eight entries receive 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point. That means one full voting set distributes 58 points across ten songs.

National Juries

For Eurovision 2027, each participating broadcaster appoints a seven-member national jury of music professionals. Jurors rank the competing songs independently and cannot vote for their own country's entry.

Audience Voting

Viewers in participating countries rank entries through the approved voting methods and cannot vote for their own country. Each participating country's audience produces its own 12–10–8–7–6–5–4–3–2–1 points set.

The Rest of the World vote

Eligible viewers outside the participating countries can vote online when the official platform is open. Those votes are combined into the Rest of the World audience ranking, which is treated as an additional voting set and awards its own points.

How the Semi-Finals work in 2027

The public 2027 rules confirm that both National Jury Voting and Audience Voting are used to determine qualification. Ten entries advance from each Semi-Final. If a reliable audience result cannot be established in a participating country, that country's jury result can be used instead.

How the Grand Final works

The Grand Final combines National Jury points and Audience Voting, including the Rest of the World. The EBU determines the weighting under the approved rules. The entry with the highest combined score wins.

What happens in a tie?

When a tie needs to be resolved after the jury and audience results are combined, the song with the stronger overall ranking from the national audiences and Rest of the World audience is placed higher.

What is still operational rather than fixed?

The public rules establish the voting framework, but specific audience voting methods, limits, weighting details and implementation mechanics may still be reviewed before the live shows. We update this guide when those operational details are officially published.
