Belgium's first win and a lasting age record
Sandra Kim gave Belgium its first Eurovision victory in Bergen with “J'aime La Vie”. She remains the youngest winner in Contest history, a record protected by later minimum-age rules.
Iceland joins Eurovision
Bergen 1986 also marked Iceland's Eurovision debut and included the 500th song performed in Contest history: Luxembourg's “L'amour De Ma Vie”.
