Cyprus has named George Perris as its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria. Broadcaster CyBC (RIK) confirmed the Greek-French singer on Wednesday 4 November 2026, making Cyprus the first country to publicly reveal its performer for the upcoming contest. The announcement settles the identity of the artist, but it does not yet reveal the song he will perform.
What to know
- CyBC officially selected George Perris to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2027 on 4 November.
- Original song submissions close on 13 December 2026 at 23:59 Cyprus time.
- A televised song selection will split the decision evenly between the public and a professional jury.
- No Eurovision 2027 song or televised selection date has been confirmed yet.
CyBC said it chose Perris through an evaluation process involving expert committees from Cyprus and abroad. The broadcaster's confirmation follows earlier media reports about a possible internal artist selection, but today's announcement is the first official basis for identifying him as the Cypriot entrant. Previous speculation about other prospective singers should no longer be confused with the final decision.
The broadcaster is now inviting composers, lyricists and songwriters from Cyprus and other countries to submit original songs. The deadline is Sunday 13 December 2026, at 23:59 Cyprus time, via CyBC's dedicated submission platform. That is a deadline for songs, not the date of the televised selection show; CyBC has not yet announced when that programme will air.
Once submissions have been evaluated, a shortlist of songs will be performed or presented in a special live CyBC television programme. The winning entry will be chosen through a 50–50 combination of public voting and a professional jury. Viewers will therefore have a direct say in Perris's Eurovision song, even though the broadcaster selected the performer internally.
Perris is an internationally active multilingual pop singer, born in Greece to a French mother and Greek father. His career includes performances at New York's Lincoln Center, Athens's Odeon of Herodes Atticus and Montreal's Place des Arts. The official Eurovision announcement also highlights his collaborations with artists including Michel Legrand and Lara Fabian, and concert specials shown by US broadcaster PBS.
The confirmed facts are now the performer, the submission deadline and the voting balance for the song selection. The song title, the list of shortlisted compositions and the broadcast date remain unannounced. Song Contest Radar will track CyBC's next official updates as Cyprus prepares its entry for the May 2027 contest in Burgas.
