The Netherlands wins the second Eurovision Song Contest

Corry Brokken won Frankfurt 1957 with “Net Als Toen”, scoring 31 points. It was the Netherlands' first Eurovision victory and Brokken's second consecutive appearance after competing in the inaugural Contest.

The first public Eurovision scoreboard

Frankfurt 1957 introduced a ten-member jury in each country, with each juror giving one vote to a favourite song. The votes were shown live on a scoreboard, creating the public voting sequence that became one of Eurovision's defining traditions.

Austria, Denmark and the United Kingdom debut

Austria, Denmark and the United Kingdom joined the Contest in 1957, expanding the field from the seven founding broadcasters of 1956 to ten participating countries.
