Denmark wins after a dramatic voting correction
Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann won London 1963 with “Dansevise”, giving Denmark its first Eurovision victory. Norway initially delivered confused scores and later corrected them, after which Denmark finished two points ahead of Switzerland.
Eurovision becomes a studio television production
The BBC staged Eurovision 1963 across two television studios rather than a concert hall, allowing more controlled camera work and close-ups. Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann also became the first duo to win the Contest.
