Luxembourg makes it back-to-back victories

Anne-Marie David won Eurovision 1973 with “Tu Te Reconnaîtras”, giving Luxembourg a second consecutive victory and its fourth title overall, equalling France's record at the time.

Israel debuts and the language rule is relaxed

Israel entered Eurovision for the first time in 1973 and finished fourth with Ilanit. The EBU also relaxed the rule requiring countries to sing in a national language, a change that helped set the stage for ABBA's English-language victory the following year.
