Istanbul to Burgas by direct coach
Direct international coach service currently exists between Istanbul and Burgas. FlixBus publishes an Istanbul Europe → Burgas route, while Arda Tur also operates the Istanbul–Burgas corridor from Burgas Bus Station South.
This page intentionally does not freeze today's departure times or fares into a May 2027 guide. Operator frequency, terminal details and border journey time can change before Eurovision week.
If you land at an Istanbul airport
Do not assume that an international arrival at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen connects directly to your Burgas coach. Check the exact departure point shown on the operator ticket and build the Istanbul ground transfer into the itinerary.
If you must leave the airport and enter Türkiye before reaching a coach station or pickup point, Turkish entry rules apply to that part of the journey. Requirements vary by nationality and passport.
The Türkiye → Bulgaria border matters
Bulgaria has been fully part of the Schengen Area since 1 January 2025. An overland journey from Türkiye therefore enters Schengen at Bulgaria's external border, so border processing is part of the route rather than a normal domestic transfer.
Do not build a show-day itinerary around the fastest advertised coach duration alone. Border queues, passport checks and traffic can move the real arrival time.
Road transfer or rental car
A road option can make sense for groups or a wider Türkiye–Bulgaria itinerary, but cross-border driving adds more checks than a normal domestic rental. Confirm that the rental company permits the border crossing and that the vehicle, insurance and driver documents are valid for the complete route.

Protect your Eurovision show buffer
The live broadcasts are confirmed for 11, 13 and 15 May 2027 at Arena Burgas. A same-day Istanbul connection adds an international border to the normal risks of traffic, terminal transfers, luggage and accommodation check-in.
If a ticketed show is the priority, arriving in Burgas earlier or the previous day can remove a large part of that uncertainty.

Yes. Current operators sell direct Istanbul–Burgas coach services. May 2027 schedules, stops and fares can change, so confirm the exact service close to booking and again before travel.
Do I cross a Schengen border between Türkiye and Bulgaria?
Yes. Bulgaria is fully part of the Schengen Area, while Türkiye is outside it, so the land journey enters Schengen at Bulgaria's external border. Passport and visa requirements depend on your nationality and travel documents.
Do I need to check Turkish entry rules if I only use Istanbul as a flight gateway?
If your route requires leaving the airport and entering Türkiye before boarding an onward coach or road transfer, check Türkiye's entry and visa rules for your passport as well as Bulgaria's rules.
Should I travel from Istanbul to Burgas on the day of my Eurovision show?
A cross-border same-day journey adds traffic, terminal and border-delay risk. If the ticketed show matters to you, leave a meaningful buffer or arrive in Burgas earlier.
