How to get to Burgas for Eurovision 2027
Burgas has its own international airport, rail links to Sofia and the Black Sea coast, and international bus connections. Eurovision organisers are also developing a wider gateway-airport plan for visitors arriving elsewhere in the region.

Compare door to door, not airport to airport
Use the same five layers for every route you shortlist. This prevents a low first-flight fare from hiding an expensive onward transfer, fragile connection or extra hotel night.

When a cheaper gateway costs you an extra night
A Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv or Istanbul fare can still be the best option, but compare it against the stay it creates. If the onward connection pushes you into Burgas a day earlier, forces a gateway hotel, or makes a same-day departure too risky, that extra accommodation belongs in the route price.
For a short Eurovision trip this matters even more: one extra night changes a 3-day plan proportionally far more than it changes a full-week stay. Compare the route together with the 3/5/7-day versions rather than choosing transport and accommodation independently.

Flying directly to Burgas
Burgas Airport is roughly 10 kilometres north-east of the city centre. The official Eurovision Host City guide confirms a regular bus route between the airport and central Burgas.
Eurovision's 2027 season launch also says several European airlines have indicated extra Burgas capacity for May, while Bulgaria Air has announced increased Sofia–Burgas service around the Contest period. Exact flight schedules should still be checked directly with the airline before booking.
Using another airport as your gateway
The official Burgas 2027 FAQ says the transport concept extends beyond Burgas Airport. Planning is being developed in cooperation with airports in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Istanbul as additional international gateways for Eurovision visitors.
This does not yet mean a guaranteed Eurovision shuttle from each airport. Specific routes, journey times and dedicated transfer arrangements remain pending until the operational transport plan is finalized.

Travelling by train
The official Host City guide highlights strong rail connections between Burgas and Sofia, together with connections to other destinations along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. If you are combining Eurovision with time elsewhere in Bulgaria, rail can therefore be part of the itinerary without needing to fly directly into Burgas.
Timetables can change before May 2027, so this page intentionally does not publish a fixed train duration or departure schedule yet.

International and intercity buses
Eurovision's Host City guide says many international bus companies operate routes into Burgas. Bus travel may be useful from neighbouring cities and regional airports, but Eurovision-specific coach services have not yet been announced.
For Istanbul, direct international coaches already operate today, but the exact May 2027 operator, terminal, fare and border duration must still be re-checked.
Check entry requirements before an international booking
Bulgaria is part of the Schengen Area. The Entry/Exit System is already operating for many non-EU short-stay travellers, while the exact ETIAS launch and implementation phase for May 2027 still needs to be confirmed.
Your visa or travel-authorisation requirement depends on nationality, passport and residence status. Resolve that question through official sources before making an expensive non-refundable route depend on an assumption.

Already in Burgas?

What should you book now?
Flights and accommodation can involve non-refundable costs. The official Burgas 2027 FAQ advises fans to wait for further Host City information before making non-refundable arrangements tied to Eurovision events that have not yet been confirmed.
The three live-show dates are confirmed: 11, 13 and 15 May 2027. Six preview shows are also confirmed during the 10–15 May show-week window.
When you find a real flight, train or coach fare, add the complete route amount to the trip calculator instead of relying on a generic Eurovision travel estimate. Include the onward connection and any extra night caused by the route. That lets you compare arrival with accommodation, tickets, local transport, food and a contingency buffer before you commit.
