Ireland's three Eurovision wins in a row
Ireland is the only country to have won the Eurovision Song Contest three consecutive years. The run began in Malmö in 1992, continued on home soil in Millstreet in 1993 and was completed in Dublin in 1994.
The 1992–1994 winning streak
1992: Linda Martin starts the run
Linda Martin won in Malmö with “Why Me”, scoring 155 points. That victory brought Eurovision back to Ireland for 1993.
1993: Niamh Kavanagh wins in Millstreet
Niamh Kavanagh defended Ireland's title with “In Your Eyes”. Her 187-point win meant Ireland would host the Contest for a second consecutive year.
1994: the record becomes three
Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan completed the unprecedented streak in Dublin with “Rock 'n' Roll Kids”, scoring 226 points.
Why the record still stands
Other countries have produced dominant eras and repeat winners, but no other nation has won three Eurovision editions consecutively. Ireland's overall record includes seven victories, tying it at the top of the all-time wins table.
