Canada opens search for its first Eurovision artist

CBC/Radio-Canada has opened the selection process for Canada's historic Eurovision debut, with artist submissions running from 31 August to 9 September 2026.

Canada's first Eurovision entry is moving from confirmation to selection. CBC/Radio-Canada has launched a nationwide search for the artist who will represent the country at Eurovision 2027 in Burgas.

Artist submissions are accepted from 31 August through 9 September 2026. For Canada's debut year, the broadcaster is choosing the performer first; the selected artist will then work with music-industry talent to develop the country's first Eurovision song and stage performance.

CBC/Radio-Canada plans to announce a shortlist in the autumn. Canadians will be able to vote online on the shortlisted artists, with the public result combined with a music-industry jury review to determine the representative.

Canada's participation itself is already official. CBC/Radio-Canada became a full EBU Member in June 2026, making Canada eligible to compete, and Eurovision has confirmed that Canada will enter the Semi-Finals in Burgas.
