Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS has announced that it will not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas.
In its statement, AVROTROS said its decision reflects concerns about the Contest's neutral and apolitical character amid continuing geopolitical tensions. The broadcaster said the latest EBU changes did not provide enough confidence for AVROTROS itself to return in 2027.
The decision does not yet provide a final answer on the Netherlands as a country. AVROTROS has informed the NPO and returned responsibility for the Dutch participation decision to the national public broadcasting organisation. The NPO will determine how the Netherlands proceeds for 2027.
