Greece's national broadcaster ERT has confirmed that Sing for Greece 2027 will take place in Thessaloniki in February, moving the televised selection away from Athens. The announcement, published on 16 October, sets out plans for three live programmes: two semi-finals followed by a national final. The winner will represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria.

AT A GLANCE

What to know

  • ERT will stage Sing for Greece 2027 in Thessaloniki in February.
  • The selection includes two semi-finals and a final, all shown live.
  • Entry submissions close on 1 November; exact show dates and venue remain unannounced.

The decision brings a major Eurovision-related television production to Greece's second-largest city. ERT describes the relocation as part of its intention to share important cultural and entertainment events more widely across the country. The broadcaster has not identified an exact venue or specific February dates in the 16 October announcement.

All three programmes will be broadcast live by ERT and streamed on ERTFLIX. The return of the familiar selection structure means that the broadcaster will again use a multi-stage process rather than choosing its representative solely behind closed doors. The programme is also expected to offer a platform for different styles within contemporary Greek popular music.

ERT's published selection rules allow up to 20 entries to compete across the two semi-finals. Twelve songs will reach the grand final through public voting alone, while the final winner will be determined using both audience votes and professional juries. These provisions come from the earlier official call for entries and remain important context for the new venue announcement.

Artists and songwriters can submit entries until 1 November 2026 at 23:59 through ERT's online application system. The broadcaster opened submissions on 22 September. The next important updates will be confirmation of the shortlist, exact dates, presenters, venue and ticketing information, rather than assumptions based on previous editions.

The national final's move to Thessaloniki is already a confirmed editorial development, even before those practical details are announced. Greece will select the song it takes to Eurovision 2027 in Burgas, where the main contest is scheduled for May. For now, the reliable facts are the host city, February window, three live shows and established selection rules.
