Luxembourg has begun the in-person audition stage of its Eurovision Song Contest 2027 selection. Broadcaster RTL is hearing 80 prospective performers during a three-day process from 16 to 18 October, with the aim of identifying artists who can advance to the next stage of Luxembourg Song Contest.
What to know
- RTL auditions 80 singers for Luxembourg Song Contest 2027.
- The national final is scheduled for 30 January at Rockhal.
The jury is assessing vocal ability, artistic identity and stage presence. According to reports from the second day, approximately 70 percent of the auditioning performers have Luxembourg nationality or dual nationality, 20 percent are residents and 10 percent have a substantial cultural connection to the country.
The format has an important change: artists do not need to arrive with a finished Eurovision song. Singers can audition on their own merits, while song submissions are considered separately and may subsequently be matched with selected performers. The broadcaster plans to announce the successful first-stage artists on Monday afternoon.
The national final is scheduled for 30 January 2027 at Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette. Its winner will represent Luxembourg at Eurovision 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria. Luxembourg returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024, making the selection process an important part of its renewed participation.
