Canada's broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada is expected to reveal the artists shortlisted for its Eurovision 2027 national selection on 27 October 2026. According to Eurovoix, the announcement will take place at a press conference. The performers are not expected to present live songs at that event.
What to know
- Canada plans to reveal its Eurovision 2027 selection candidates on 27 October.
- The chosen artist will develop a song after a public-and-jury selection process.
The October 27 announcement
The announcement is scheduled for a press event in Toronto. According to a media invitation reported by Eurovisionfun, the public reveal is expected at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. This will introduce the candidates, not their finished Eurovision entries.
How Canada's selection works
Canada is choosing an artist first and will develop the competition song afterwards. The shortlist will be presented to the public online, with a public vote and music-industry jury contributing to the final decision. The winning act will represent Canada in its first Eurovision Song Contest appearance in Burgas, Bulgaria, in May 2027.
CBC/Radio-Canada opened applications from 31 August to 9 September 2026. The broadcaster plans to publish finalist videos and combine an online audience vote with assessments from a music-industry jury. The selected act will then collaborate on a song and stage performance.
Canada's Eurovision debut
Canada became eligible to participate after CBC/Radio-Canada gained full membership in the European Broadcasting Union in June 2026. The EBU confirmed Canada's debut on 1 July. It will compete in a semi-final, unlike Australia's special direct-final invitation in 2015.
What happens next
CBC/Radio-Canada previously opened applications between 31 August and 9 September. The October announcement provides a concrete date for the next stage, but the shortlisted artists and the date of the final selection have not yet been officially disclosed.
Eurovision 2027 takes place in Burgas, Bulgaria, with shows on 11, 13 and 15 May. As of 20 October, the candidate names, winning artist and competition song have not been publicly revealed.
